2019 Longest Table, Sponsored by Cheney Brothers Inc. on May 21nd

A free community dinner will be held on May 21nd 2019 to encourage neighbors of all income levels, ethnicity types and beliefs to have a common table to build new friendships in Iredell County.   You are encouraged to attend as either a volunteer or as a participant!

Many will remember last year’s Longest Table event which gathered 550 individuals around a common table that took up about half of the track at Statesville High.  This year’s event will be held at the Signal Hill Mall (1685 E Broad St, Statesville, NC 28625), because of on-going construction at Statesville High.  But we want to keep the momentum going and have over 1,000 people come to the event… Enough to complete the track.

To kick off the conversation and sharing participants will be asked this year to share “One Good Thing” that has happened in their life over the last several days.  During the event, we will be gathering photos of individuals sharing their own “One Good Thing” to remind the community of all the brightest areas in our lives.  After building everyone’s confidence and ability to reach out to one another, organizers hope that these new connections will bridge gaps in future community planning decisions.

Please note that dinner will be served at 6:30pm and registration will open at 5:00pm.  As attendees arrive, all seating will be randomly assigned in hopes that you get to make seven new connections within the community.

Participants and volunteers need to reserve their seat in advance and can sign up at: http://bit.ly/ICLTWeb of call the United Way of Iredell County at 704-872-3000.  Transportation and child-care will be available for those who sign up for those services.
