The North Carolina Med Assist mobile free pharmacy will be at the Statesville Family YMCA in Friday, May 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In addition to a sign up for prescriptions for those who qualify (mailed to patients later), the group will be distributing needed over-the-counter medications to people of any income level. Various free health screenings will also be available to community members in the gym areas.

This nonprofit pharmacy program, coming to the first time to Iredell County, provides access to lifesaving prescription medications, patient support, advocacy and related services to poor, vulnerable, and uninsured North Carolina residents.

NC MedAssist seeks to ensure that no eligible person in North Carolina has to choose between purchasing food or their needed medication; improving the patient’s health and lowering uncompensated health care costs for all stakeholders.

The Free Pharmacy program provides free prescription medication to North Carolina residents who are low-income, uninsured and fall at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. This statewide program is the answer for those who do not have the means to obtain lifesaving prescription medication to treat common diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and asthma.

Eligibility Requirements:

North Carolina Residents.
Adults and children living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Adults and children who do not qualify for Medicaid, Veterans Administration or private health insurance.
